5 years

Yup, its bean 5 years, I can't beleive that that much time has passed, well, 5 years and 3 days, but who's counting.. no not since I started my blog, I know it probably feels like that especially with how inspired my blogs have bean lately, but its bean 5 years since I got married. yup.. I'm getting old.. I actually had a nice day, it was pretty quiet, I did manage to work some on my MIDI studio, got rid of the awful noise comming from my computer and I'm still not completely sure how I did it so I'm not holding my breath just yet.. and then we went to an early afternoon showing of Hairspray the Musical.. I will say it was much better then Susical the Musical but I thought that the story got drowned out by music that while it was alot of fun, wasn't inspired...but of course they were trying to make you think of all the great old motown music from the 1960s and trying to get that feel without actually paying the rights for the songs which would have bean out of place anyway since the lyrics had to fit the scene and drive it into the next scene. I think this musical would have bean better served if they had cut out about 2 numbers and added more dialog. The story is basically a good one, but when you have a song every 2 minutes, sometimes the story gets lost and put second to the music and they should be equals. On that same note of good but not great, sunday night I went out and saw Hidalgo the story of a man and his love for his whores.. I mean horse.. sorry that viagra e-mail we all just recieved and will recieve again in 22.3 seconds was in my head. anyway, Hidalgo is about a guy who raced horses in the late 1800s and ended up going to the middle east and racing across the desert and winning and learning so much about himself and how much he loves horses and doesn't mind that much seeing his own native american race being wiped out, but does manage to save some horses at the end.. ok.. I'm being cynical, the movie was good, it was a feel good movie and that was about that, 2 days after seeing it, the feel good feeling has faded and in a week or two I will find myself at the theater thinking I haven't seen that one yet because it was forgetable.

Music Listened to: Thou Shalt Not, Love and Rockets (Rumor has it they might be re-uniting for a tour very soon, I'm so happy I could pee) Run Lola Run soundtrack, American Psycho soundtrack, Stigmata Soundtrack.. yes, lots O soundtracks today.

Food Eaten: Home Made Macaroni and cheese and Veggie dogs (morning star if you were wondering)

Moral of the Day: When you have an illuminating idea discuss it with a good confidant but to share it with too many.

Academy Awards 04

Well, I had my annual Academy Awards party, this year was an interesting different year from years prior, I thouight the pacing of the awards was slow this year and then would feel rushed, sure it was fun when Blake Edwards shot across the stage in a wheel chair with a leg in cast sticking out front, un expected was fun, but this years awards were so concerned that they would use up their 11 second delay with something potentially offensive that they forgot to have fun, I thought it was strange that they put all the music together in 2 segments instead of using the song performences to break up the evening. I also have to get on my soap box and say how upset I am that the song for Lord of the Rings "Into The West" won for best song, not that I am complaining about the song, but I think that for a song to be nominated it should at least be part of the movie, not something stuck in the credits at the end of the movie, the song had nothing to do with the movie. If we look at past winners like Randy Newman or Elton John or Phil Colins, those songs were integral parts of the movie and not just something tagged in, Heck Even Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote new music for Evita that won and I'm fine with that, but having a song just stuck in the credits which to me stood out like a sore thumb compared to the score for the rest of the entire 3 movie set. OK, I have said my peace

Academy Award Food: Chili, Popeyes Fried Chicken, Fruit, Veggies, Popcorn, Cake.

Music listened to Setting up for Party: Duran Duran, Love and Rockets

Moral of the Awards: If you aren't Lord of the Rings, go home.
